My Saying (Confusing yet true)

"What I am is Who I am and Who I am is Me."

A Message

"Sing a message to those who listen and get through to those who don't."

Time Might Change But You Don't Have To

"Some say that time changes, and best friends can become strangers. But if we keep it real and we keep it tight, the power of music will continue to strum through our life."

Think Before You Judge

"Don't judge what you can't understand."

Seeing Through The Eyes of God

"God sees no colour, he only sees his children."

Reach For The Stars

"Fly to the sky and touch the stars for they're not going anywhere soon."

Small Thoughts

So much confusion,
too much emotion,
many problems,
but little devotion.
You're understanding
and you're loving too,
but sometimes I wonder,
is the man of my dreams really you?

Life Through a Teens Eyes (Gr.8 speech competition)

Rude, obnoxious, moody, disciplined, not disciplined, arguments, and school are only some of the words that describe the life of a teenager. But no matter how you look at it, there will always be, curiosity, running through the eyes of a teenager. Well if that wasn't enough to think about, listen up, because we are, the next generation, to move forward.

The jocks, the cheerleaders, the IQ's, the nerds and computer geeks, the skaters, the preppies, the outcasts, and of course "the populars." No matter what group you hang out with or school you go to, either way you're going to come face to face with the structure of the teen years.

Schools tough. Between homework, teachers, your reputation, and your friends, it's hard to keep up. Like they say "friends are like four leaf clovers, hard to find but lucky to have", but keep in mind, that they're also easy to lose.

Stress is not only found in school but in their very own homes. Research shows that 59% of young people said that they get on very well with their parents. A third of young people did not say they felt loved and cared for, and 1 in 5 teens experienced relationship or communication difficulties with their parents. Researchers feel that younger children are more positive than older children, and that there seemed to be a turning point at age 13.

Life at home is not always the easiest thing to go through. Having to deal with siblings and family issues such as: disagreements, communication problems, and bad relationships can cause a family to break. Hopefully your family is strong to begin with, and the love you have for each other is stronger. "Love is like war, easy to begin but hard to end."

Teen stress is epidemic. Between popularity issues, controlling parents, and never-ending school work, it's like carrying the whole world on our shoulders. Most teens today deal with bigger issues such as: depression, self-mutilation, broken homes, peer pressure, Ritalin dependency, and the threat of school violence. Today's teens need better coping skills for stress.

It is said that trying is one step to failure which is true if you think about it. But you have the power to change that fact. "Our minds are like parachutes, they won't work unless they're open." Speaking of being open. I decided to find out what parents and/or adults think about teens. Their opinions and comments on what we do or say. The more common ones about teens were that they are: short-tempered, selfish, some are perfectionists and others don't care at all, that they are uncertain about the future, they're stressed about peer pressure, and that they are all good deep down inside.

Many teens that heard about the opinions made by the adults, felt that it was true but at the same time they each had their own personal opinion. They all agreed that they are all different and that each of them were made up as their own person.

But the huge problem I've found is that others, mainly adults, are always judging teens. They judge us by our music, our style, family, friends, and looks. Us teens find this very disrespectful. Many teens will sit back and take it, but I won't. I'm going to stand up and lead this next generation forward, because I will not be disrespected and do nothing about it. People should not judge a book by its cover because it's not right. We may look the part but our personality will prove you wrong. Instead of looking on the outside, look into our eyes which is a window to our heart and soul. Now after looking into my eyes, tell me, what do YOU see when you look at me?

Young Mothers

Pregnant! Pregnant! Pregnant!
This just can't be,
How could this happen to me?
My parents fight back tears.
I see in their eyes what
Their lips cannot say,
"Our baby, our baby,
She's too young.
Her life is over.
Why our family?"
My best friends now think
Less of me, and start to
Make excuses about why
They can't "hang" with me.
"I'm sorry. We're just
Too busy."
As the days and months go
By, the school halls become
A spectator gallery. Ex-friends
And strangers point as if I
Cannot see.
My once straight shoulders
Now slump, my once
Upheld head now bows.
I feel myself slowly disappear.
At night I feel the small
Movement of punches and kicks.
I close my tear filled eyes
And see a smiling face and
Outstretched arms reaching
For me. My heart skips a
Beat because I know this
New life is my precious
Responsibility.
I tell myself God makes
No mistakes. I will stand
Tall and face this difficult
Road. God will not make me
Take this journey alone, he
Will walk along side me.
I hold my tummy and
Speak softly "I will hold
You, cry for you, laugh
With you, share
Memories with you,
And always love you
Endlessly. I know
My life is not over, in
Fact, it has just begun
And the best years are
Still to be.

Love You Mom

Your mysterious brown eyes,
and cinnamon hair, along
with that beautiful,
and graceful stare.
You're caring, and loving,
hardworking, and smart, for
your life is a continuous process,
of working art.
Seen as not only an amazing mother,
a trustworthy friend, and well
brought up daughter, to be
appreciated for what
you do, because no matter
what, I will always love you.
For you are not only my mother,
but also my friend, and within
this friendship, contains
the strength of a million soldiers,
a friendship so strong,
that there is no end.

Love You Dad

Your icy blue eyes,
and dark wavy hair,
along with that charming,
and award-winning stare.
For a man once told me,
to go for my dreams,
and grasp them within the
palm of my hand,
for he too did the same
when he was a teen.
The man then quoted,
"it is better to have tried
to make it, then knowing
that you did not try at all."
Within this man shall lay
a heart of gold, and
within his mind shall lay
the power in which he holds.
For this man is also seen
as a gentle giant,
with an intelligent mind,
but more importantly,
the love between
him and his daughter
is a love nowhere else can find.

The Reflection

In this mirror I can see,
the reflection in which makes
up me.
From the curiousity which lays
within these hazel eyes,
to my toes which I very much
despise. Not only do I
see myself in this pictured
scenery, found within the depths
of my mind, there is also
lost thoughts of what
might be, my
undiscovered destiny.

High School Love

You ruined your life with her,
'cause of what you do,
she gave you a chance,
but you ruined that too.
You said that was then,
this is now, I promise I'll
change, just let me show you
how.
Months passed by,
and high school begins,
little did he know, that
his life with her, was
coming to an end.
She begins to think, why
should I wait for him,
why should I try,
I got a whole life ahead
of me, and he's only one guy.
He realized, that to find their
love, he had to look into
his heart, and if he had
done that in the first place,
they would of never been apart.
He lost the love of his life,
'cause he didn't do her right,
he had a rep to keep up so he
had to stay cool, but she just
thought he looked like a
fool, all because, he never
grew up in high school.

The Key to our Love

My mind is racing,
my breath has been taken away,
for I never thought you'd be
taken from me again,
until that dreadful day.
Life has taken its course,
and theres nothing I can do,
except pray each night,
that God will bring me back to you.
I'm not only losing a friend,
but a person I love,
who will always be a part of me,
even when I'm in heaven up above.
When we're together,
I feel like everything around us is
frozen in time,
and all there is left is you, me, and
our never-ending memories.
Do me a favor, and keep in mind,
that no matter how hard it gets,
this love will have no regrets,
for you are the key to my heart.

Unknown Identity

"We are all born with a mask upon our face in search of our identity. When found, we remove the mask and reveal who we are."

The Power of Destiny

"Each person born into this world is born a soldier, trying to discover a dream within the depths of the Earth. Once found, thou soldier shall grasp the power within their hands, and put it towards achieving their goal. Those who chose to throw away their lives or who do not dare to dream, only create another lifeless page written within the next chapter of this generation."
